Work on Dhiggaru shore protection project commences

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) had announced that the Company has commenced work on the shore protection project at M. Dhiggaru on August 28.

As per the Company, work under the project includes reclamation of 25 hectares of land at the shore of the island, construction of a 383-meter rock boulder revetment along with a 287-meter breakwater.

The project is valued at MVR 121.84 million.

MTCC had transported the last shipment of the rock boulders needed for the project to the project site on July 7.

The Company was contracted for the project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on November 10 – to complete the project in a span of 450 days.

In addition to the Dhiggaru shore protection project – MTCC is simultaneously undertaking numerous marine construction projects across the nation.
