Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 106 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 79,525.
According to HPA, the 106 new cases include; 16 cases from the greater Male’ region, 78 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 12 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 133 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 77,639.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,652 active cases.
There are 15 patients in hospitals.
5,333 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,254 from the greater Male' region.
With the 106 new infections this Wednesday, 835 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 222 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives has launched an ambitious campaign to fully vaccinate 90 percent of the eligible population in the country by the end of this August. The country began vaccinating children above the age of 12 years this week.
As of Tuesday, 356,883 people have received their first dose and 297,003 people have been fully vaccinated.
