COVID-19: 115 new cases, 23 from Male’ area

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 115 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 77,547.  

According to HPA, the 115 new cases include; 23 cases from the greater Male’ region, 78 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 12 cases from operational resorts, and 2 cases from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 160 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 74,758.  

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,556 active cases.  

There are 20 patients in hospitals.  

5,573 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,018 from the greater Male' region.

With the 115 new infections this Sunday, 797 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

August 1: 115 cases 

June 31: 123 cases  

June 30: 107 cases  

July 29: 108 cases  

July 28: 141 cases  

July 27: 105 cases  

July 26: 98 cases  

Maldives has recorded 221 COVID-19 deaths.
