Customs revenue increased by 59% in June compared to that of last year

Maldives Customs Service (MCS) revealed that the revenue collected for the month of June by the authority has increased by 59 percent compared to that of last year.

The latest statistics publicized by Customs show that import/export duty revenue collected in June 2020 totaled up to MVR 156 million – whereas the amount this year totaled up to MVR 247 million.

Oman, China and Singapore were amongst the three major importing countries to the Maldives.

Goods worth MVR 490 million were imported from Oman – while goods worth MVR 391 million were imported from China. The number of goods imported from Singapore was valued at MVR 354 million.

Thailand, Japan and Germany were amongst the major exporting countries to the Maldives.

Goods worth MVR 46 million were exported to Thailand – while goods worth MVR 26 million were exported to Japan. The number of foods exported to Germany was valued at MVR 24 million.

The CIF value of imported goods also increased by 44 percent this year - being valued at MVR 3 billion. In June 2020, it was MVR 2.1 billion.

The FOB value of exported goods increased by only three percent this year – being valued at MVR 228 million. In June 2020, it was MVR 221 million.
