An employee of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has been injured after falling off a ladder while using it to climb stacked containers.
Spokesperson of MPL Dhaanish Nizam detailed to Sun that the said employee had fallen off the ladder while using it to climb a stack of three containers from a stack of two containers.
The incident took place yesterday evening at around 18:20.
“The employee fell on his left hand - breaking the bone between his shoulder and elbow has been,” Dhaanish added.
The employee requires surgery and as it is one that cannot be done at either IGMH or ADK, the employee has been transferred to Tree Top Hospital around 23:48 last night.
Dhaanish also confirmed that the employee's condition is stable.
“The employee fell from about 9-foot distance and was equipped with a helmet and other safety gears necessary,” he also detailed.
Dhaanish also confirmed that MPL is closely monitoring the status of the injured employee and would continue to share status updates with the media.
