India has awarded two Maldivian students with fully-paid scholarships to pursue their higher education under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)’s scholarship scheme.

The two students were selected out of 10 Maldivian students who applied for the ICCR scholarship scheme for the academic year 2021-22.

Indian High Commissioner to Maldives, Sunjay Sudhir met with the students awarded the scholarships last Wednesday.

One of the students is pursuing an MBA at Calicut University and the other is pursuing BA (Economics) at Kirorimal College, Delhi University.

The screening process for the remaining applications remains ongoing.

India offers Maldivian students 39 spots under the ICCR scholarship scheme each year.

The Indian Cultural Center in Male’ is the nodal agency on the Indian side to administer the scholarships – and works in collaboration with the Maldivian Higher Education Ministry and the Maldivian government to receive and process the applications.

Maldivian students can apply for scholarships every year for under-graduate, post-graduate, MPhil and PhD courses in reputed Indian universities.

The Indian universities screen the candidates for academics before deciding on their applications.
