Health Protection Agency (HPA) has banned Eid activities that will involve crowding of people ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays.
With major easements having been given to the COVID-19 restrictions that were in place right ahead of the Eid holidays, a lot of people have already begun traveling to inhabited islands from Male’ Area.
In an announcement made today, HPA has urged everyone to take precautions against COVID-19 when traveling for the holidays and taking part in celebratory activities.
Accordingly, they encourage everyone to limit themselves to activities that do not involve crowding of people. Intra-traveling between islands for celebratory activities will not be allowed. Sports competitions cannot be held as well.

HPA also requests persons exhibiting symptoms to seek medical attention at the earliest by visiting a flu clinic and getting tested – and also to self-isolate until the test result is received.
Those who are quarantined are strongly urged to strictly follow quarantine guidelines.
In concluding their statement, HPA noted that the society must work together in adhering to preventive measures in order to prevent another wave of COVID-19 during a time where the situation has significantly subsided.
