COVID-19: 172 new cases, most from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 172 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 72,466.

According to HPA, the 172 new cases include; 66 cases from the greater Male’ region, 96 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 10 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 379 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 67,886.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 4,362 active cases.

There are 41 patients in hospitals.

4,523 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 172 new infections this Wednesday, 1,328 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

June 23: 172 cases

June 22: 145 cases

June 21: 253 cases

June 20: 187 cases

June 19: 211 cases

June 18: 142 cases

June 17: 218 cases

Maldives has recorded 207 COVID-19 deaths.
