COVID-19: 187 new cases; active cases drop to 5,300

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 187 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 71,896.

According to HPA, the 187 new cases include; 84 cases from the greater Male’ region, 91 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 7 cases from operational resorts, and 5 cases from liveaboards.

Meanwhile, 289 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 66,379.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 5,300 active cases.

There are 46 patients in hospitals.

5,613 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 187 new infections this Sunday, 1,595 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

June 20: 187 cases

June 19: 211 cases

June 18: 142 cases

June 17: 218 cases

June 16: 241 cases

June 15: 224 cases

June 14: 372 cases

Maldives has recorded 206 COVID-19 deaths.
