North Maafannu MP Imthiyaz Fahmy (Inthi) has been appointed to the Parliament’s Security Services Committee (241 Committee), replacing fellow MDP member, South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain).

The changes come as the committee conducts an inquiry into the breach of Parliament Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed’s security in relation to the May 6 terror attack.
MDP parliamentarians loyal to Nasheed have accused the government of interfering in the inquiry, a claim denied by committee chair, Aslam in a press conference last Monday.

Those questioned in the inquiry include heads of Maldives National Defense Force and Maldives Police Service, Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam, and former Male’ City Mayor Shifa Mohamed.
