COVID-19 death toll in Maldives rises to 143

A COVID-19 patient receiving treatment at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility has passed away, bringing the total number of deaths related to the virus in the Maldives to 143. 

Sun has learned that the patient was a 66-year old male who passed away late last night. The death has not been officially announced by the HPA. 

The news means that 65 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in May alone. 13 deaths were recorded on May 24, yesterday alone. 

The increase in caseload and death toll has led the government to take extra measures and strengthen existing measures as well.
