Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 2,194 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 50,802.
According to HPA, the 2,194 new cases include; 1,698 cases from the greater Male’ region, 467 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 29 cases from operational resorts.
HPA said that of the 2,194 new cases reported on Thursday, 691 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 19th May and 6pm of 20th May, while the remaining 1,503 cases are backlog samples.
Meanwhile, 759 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 30,403.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 20,276 active cases.
There are 280 patients in hospitals.
7,259 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.
With the 2,194 new infections this Thursday, 9,494 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.
