COVID-19: Maldives records 741 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 741 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 44,523.

According to HPA, the 741 new cases include; 560 cases from the greater Male’ region, 156 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 25 cases from operational resorts.

HPA said that of the 741 new cases reported on Sunday, 515 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 15th May and 6pm of 16th May, while the remaining 226 cases are backlog samples.

Meanwhile, 446 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 28,459.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 15,666 active cases.

There are 262 patients in hospitals.

2,881 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

With the 741 new infections this Sunday, 8,708 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 10: 1,204 cases

97 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
