Monitoring mechanisms on Lhohi lifted

N. Lhohi.

After two weeks, monitoring mechanisms on N. Lhohi have been lifted.

The island was placed under monitoring mechanisms on March 12 after COVID-19 cases were detected on the island.

Council Vice President Fathimath Naeema said to Sun that the mechanisms on the island were lifted last night.

"A total of 24 cases have been tested positive. Five have recovered from the virus," said Naeema.

Despite the repealing of mechanisms, more than 100 people on the island are under quarantine.

"Samples have been collected from all of them last night. The results have not yet been received," said Naeema.

The Maldives has so far confirmed more than 23,000 cases of the virus.
