This year’s World Tourism Day in the Maldives will be celebrated in the southern Addu City, the Tourism Ministry has announced.

Every year, on September 27, World Tourism Day is celebrated.

The Tourism Ministry said that Addu City Council took the initiative on celebrating the day this year in the city. The Ministry thanked the city council for the strong initiative.

Due to the restrictions of the pandemic, in 2020 the Tourism Day was not celebrated as colorfully as it usually is celebrated. Some activities were however conducted in atolls and Maldives also broke the world record in free diving last year.

The theme for this year's tourism day is "Tourism for Inclusive Growth".
