HPA: Vaccination is now open for all aged above 30

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that vaccinations against COVID-19 for everyone aged above 30 will be commenced today. 

Up until yesterday, a total of 70,009 people had received the vaccine in the Maldives. 

HPA specified that anyone above the age of 30 will receive the vaccine against the virus starting from today. Those receiving treatment or taking medication for long-term illnesses and are aged between 18-30 will also be able to receive the vaccine. 

HPA numbers show that 53,669 had received vaccinations against COVID-19 in the Greater Male’ Area alone. 16,340 people had also received the first dose of the vaccine in other atolls. 

The second dose of the vaccine is to be administered after eight weeks of receiving the first dose. Maldives is currently administering the Covishield vaccine developed by Astrazeneca and Oxford University.
