Indian Minister for External Affairs Jaishankar to visit Maldives

The External Affairs Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will be visiting the Maldives on an official visit soon, upon the invitation of the Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid. 

The Foreign Ministry stated that Minister Jaishankar will be visiting the Maldives on Saturday. He will be paying a courtesy call to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed. 

Minister Jaishankar will also be visiting Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi and Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid as well. A joint meeting is also set with the Economic Minister and the Planning Minister. 

Minister Jaishankar will be signing important agreements between the Maldives and India during his trip, which will also include important projects funded by India in the Maldives, the Foreign Ministry confirmed.

This is the second visit by Minister Jaishankar to the Maldives since taking office in 2019. The first visit was in 2019 to take part in the 5th Indian Ocean Conference which the Maldives hosted.
