Officials of the opposition coalition PPM-PNC have been summoned to the police.

On behalf of the coalition, lawyer Ahmed Sidhdheeq attended the police. After exiting the police station, Sidhdheeq said that the opposition party senior figures had been summoned twice to the police.

Sidhdheeq said that the police had informed that the meeting was to carry out discussions between the two parties. However, upon attending today, police had asked to sign a legally binding document which Sidhdheeq described as an evil legal trap.

"I did not sign the document. The summon was for discussions. However, upon attending they tried to ensnare me in a legal trap," said SIdhdheeq.

He did not specify what was on the document.

Some members of the opposition were summoned to the police yesterday even, over protests held by the coalition during the HPA guidelines which were in place, barring public gatherings of more than ten people. The opposition protests are centered around the freedom of former President Abdulla Yameen.
