The Maldives Red Crescent has announced that expatriates without the required legal documents in the Maldives are to register for COVID-19 vaccinations through the beneficiary system of the Maldives Red Crescent.

In a press conference of the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) last night, Maldives Red Crescent Secretary General Fathimath Himya also announced that the organization was seeking volunteers to take part in the vaccine drive as it moved to inoculate undocumented migrants in the Maldives.

Expatriates with proper documents can register for the vaccine through the my.health portal. However, those without proper legal documents, including those without work permits, are to register by calling the Migrant Support Center hotline (9114512, 9114584). Appointments will be made for vaccinations after registration is completed.

Registration will be open from today, Himya added that the hope was that around 250 expatriates would register per day. She also stated that the inoculation of expatriates was expected to be tough work that could take a long time. She said that the Red Crescent was doing a lot of work to provide information to the expatriate community living in the Maldives.
