The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has begun investigating cases against two judges.
The judges under investigation are Civil Court judge Mariyam Waheeda and Criminal Court judge Mohamed Sameer.
A statement issued by the JSC today read that the investigation was due to ethics issues reported against the judges.
Judge Sameer is accused of not permitting defense attorneys in a case to speak and make their case as well as misconduct, showing bias and speaking against defense attorneys in the case.
Judge Mariyam Waheeda is accused of outside communication with a party of a case she was presiding over. She is also accused of misconduct and violation of policies and regulations in sentencing.
