Defense chief Major General Shamaal positive for COVID-19

Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal has tested positive for COVID-19.

Confirming the results, MNDF spokesperson Major Ibrahim Azim said that Shamaal was tested for COVID-19 on Saturday after he began showing symptoms.

Shamaal is current in home isolation, and his contacts have also been placed under quarantine, said Azim.

He added that Shamaal has no recent history of attending social gatherings or travelling overseas.
