Man arrested for sexual abuse of 5-year-old in southern Maldives

A suspect has been arrested in connection to the sexual abuse of a five-year-old child in southern Maldives.

According to the police, the sexual abuse was reported by a healthcare facility in an island under the jurisdiction of the South Police Division on Sunday.

The suspect in the case, identified as a 36-year-old Maldivian man, was arrested under court order on Sunday night.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
