5th batch of Maldivian patients travel to India for medical care

40 people flew out to India on Thursday for medical care under the sponsorship of Aasandha, the state health insurance provider.

According to Aasandha, the 40 people who flew out to India include; 18 patients, 18 caretakers, and four medical escorts.

It marks the fifth batch of patients to be sent to India under a special permit granted to Maldives to facilitate medical treatment amid the lockdown.

The flight left for Cochin at 06:15 pm this Thursday.

They will receive their medical treatment from Amrita Hospital.

According to Aasandha, the 40 people sent on Thursday have visas in order and tested negative for the coronavirus prior to departure in accordance with India’s public health guideline.

They will undergo 14 day mandatory quarantine once they arrive in India, after which they will be tested again.
