The number of COVID-19 cases in H. A. Ihavandhoo has increased to three.
Ihavandhoo Councilor Abdulla Khaleel said that the first case on the island was the cashier of the ‘242’ passenger boat. The individual tested positive one day ago.
The second case on the island was from another passenger boat named ‘Thahuthu’. The individual tested positive last night. Another individual from the ‘242’ boat tested positive today.
Samples from contact tracing had been collected from 12 individuals in connection with the first case. Contact tracing work is now underway for the remaining cases.
Samples are processed at the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital which can take about six hours.
