Four islands under monitoring mechanisms due to virus case

In connection with the COVID-19 positive case identified from the Savaaree Boat that traveled to H. A. Kelaa, the islands of H. A. Dhidhdhoo, Vashafaru and H. Dh. Nolhivaranfaru has been placed under monitoring mechanisms by authorities. 

After samples were collected from everyone that traveled on the Savaaree Boat, eight crew members and one passenger tested positive for the virus in total. The islands of Nolhivaranfaru, Kelaa, and Vashafaru were placed under monitoring mechanisms, according to the Councils of the islands. 

Vashafaru Council said that the boat had made a stop to the island to unload cargo. No one from the boat had disembarked to the island, however, islanders had been involved in unloading work near the harbor of the island. 

HPA is now conducting contact tracing in connection with the positive case. The Maldives confirmed 152 cases of the virus yesterday. Out of the cases, 10 were identified from islands other than Male’ City. The total number of cases in the country has now reached 3,719 with 16 deaths in total.
