Asset Recovery Commission presents its findings to President Solih

Asset Recovery Commission, the investigative body formed by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to investigate and recover state assets subject to corruption and misappropriation has presented its report on its investigations to the President. 

The President tweeted shortly afterward that he had begun conduct in relation to the report. No further details were disclosed.

A press conference of the Commission is scheduled at the President’s Office at 16:00 today. 

The Commission was formed by the President on December 4, 2019, shortly after taking office. The Commission was mandated to investigate acts of corruption within the government starting from January 1, 2012, to November 17, 2018.

The Commission is formed of Ahmed As’ad, who is the President of the Commission, as well as Aas Abdulla, Nadeem Ibrahim, Aminath Hassan, and Fathimath Sareera Ali Shareef.

Its main focus of the investigation is the massive MMPRC corruption scandal and last said that it had identified 267 individuals who received payoffs from the scandal. PG Office said that investigation into 30 individuals implicated was proceeding at a swift pace.
