Boat carrying 13 breaks in half at sea

A boat carrying 13 has broken in half at sea in a freak incident.

MNDF Coastguard is now at the scene. The boat has been identified as “Dhirun 4” from Th. Veymandoo. The boat is around 91 feet in length.

The incident happened around four miles southwest of Th. Kinbidhoo, and was reported to the authorities around 7:10 in the morning.

The boat was carrying 13 crew members including 11 locals and two expatriates when it broke in half. No one was harmed in the incident.
