Attorneys all over the country are expressing despair over the sudden apparent suicide of Abdul Wahhab Abdul Qadhir inside the law firm where he works.

Wahhab was found dead inside the law firm Justice Advocates. Wahhab had worked as a lawyer for the police and even the Prosecutor General's Office.

Lawyers across the country who are a close-knit community, have been expressing their sorrow over the death. Many say Wahhab was close, a kind and compassionate figure well known.

Bar Council President Maumoon Hameed tweeted last night that he was praying for Wahhab's soul and that the Bar Council would work to "help members seek and access" support in times of crisis.

Lawyer Nazim Sattar also tweeted that he was astonished at the sudden death and described Wahhab as a figure known to him as a compassionate individual who loved religion.

Member of JSC appointed by attorneys Abdul Maniu Hussain called for a full investigation into the death which was reiterated by MP for Fonadhoo and attorney Moosa Siraj. MP Siraj said that it was difficult news to hear.

Calls have also been amplified for a bigger focus on mental well-being and awareness for mental issues by members of the public on social media. Wahhab is survived by his wife and child.
