Kandima Maldives Resort has donated two ventilators in addition to a large number of medical equipment to the Maldives.
The items were handed over to the National Disaster Management Center (NDMA). CEO of NDMA Hisaan Hassan received the items on behalf of the government. The items were donated by the resort in a bid to assist the government in its fight against COVID-19.
Around 850 PPE, 4000 KN-95 masks, 20,000 medical face masks, 2500 PCR tests as well as two ventilators were provided by the resort.
The items donated by the resort included some items that are currently hard to obtain due to the entire world combating against the virus. The government is currently working to obtain 200 ventilators to treat patients of the virus.
The country has also received a supply of medical equipment and even ventilators from private donors and companies across the world as well as friendly nations. Velaa Private Island also donated ventilators and medical equipment.
The Maldives has so far confirmed more than 1400 cases of the virus along with 242 recoveries and five deaths.
