Dhangethi MP Mohamed Nazim has submitted an amendment to the Legal Profession Act for a stay on two conditions for eligibility for law licenses; one-year training at a law firm and passing the bar exams.
Nazim’s amendment calls for a moratorium on the two conditions until January 1, 2021.
He said that the COVID-19 outbreak posed an obstacle securing law licenses, which in turn posed an obstacle to livelihood.
He said a moratorium on the two conditions would remedy the issue.
Nazim said that 300 law students were unable to find employment due to the difficulty in meeting the conditions.
