A migrant worker who passed away under unknown circumstances in the southern city of Fuvahmulah has been buried under the special policy formed to bury COVID-19 patients.
The City council stated that the policy formed by the National Emergency Operations Center for suspected virus cases and virus cases were followed in the burial of the migrant worker.
The burial procedure was conducted by Fuvahmulah City Council employees.
Samples from the deceased have also been collected and transported to Male’ City to be tested for the virus. The Maldives has confirmed four deaths related to the virus so far.
Burial procedures of suspected cases or confirmed cases of the virus are carried out under the special policy which involves the Islamic act of dry Ritual purification using purified sand or dust, which may be performed in place of ritual washing. This is to ensure the safety of others and to prevent the spread of the virus to others.
