COVID-19: Virus cases include 3 from Hinmafushi rehabilitation center

Hinmafushi Council has confirmed that three individuals housed at the Drug Rehabilitation Center on the island had tested positive for COVID-19.

The Council president confirmed that HPA had informed the authorities of the island that three individuals have tested positive during random samples collected from the center. The island has now been instructed to be placed under monitoring mechanisms.

Faiz stated that the council was working to impose the lockdown and monitoring orders right now.

HPA commenced random sampling in state facilities such as foster homes, prisons last week.

Nine cases of the virus were identified today from the island of Manadhoo as well. The island has been placed under Red Alert.

Confirmed cases of the virus in the Maldives have been identified from the following islands.

N. Manadhoo

K. Hinmafushi
Male’ City

The Maldives has now confirmed 1020 cases of the virus. Four deaths have been reported in connection with the virus while the number of recoveries stands at 46.
