Bank of Maldives (BML), on Thursday, announces changes to its services, including a temporary increase in debit card withdrawal limits overseas and enabling international transfers through MVR accounts.
The bank reports it made the changes in support of Maldivian nationals overseas in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
BML has increased the daily ATM withdrawal limit to USD 1,000, more than double the USD 400 limit it now has.
The bank has also reduced ATM withdrawal charges to MVR 15, while customers overseas can continue to use up to USD 600 daily on POS terminals.
The bank has enabled international transfers through MVR accounts of up to USD 500 per month. BML will not impose any charges for international transfers, but warns that respective foreign bank charges will still apply.
Meanwhile, customers who use international money transfer through BML MobilePay can also send up to USD 500 monthly using digital MVR wallets.
The service is available for customers registered with Maldivian embassies overseas in accordance with Foreign Ministry guidelines.
The bank said the changes will be in effect until the end of May.
“We will continue to assess the situation and explore further ways to support you during this period,” said BML in its announcement.
