Restriction temporarily eased to allow 24/7 cargo transport via bridge

Transport Authority (TA) has eased restrictions to allow 24/7 cargo transport via the Sinamale’ Bridge for the duration of school closures amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Transport of cargo via the bridge had previously been banned from 9 am to 3 pm, and from 1 am to 6 am.

TA, in a statement on Sunday, announced that its restrictions had been eased to allow 24/7 cargo transport via the bridge for the duration of school closures.

Schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions in Maldives have been temporary closed as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.

TA, in July 2019, had banned the transport of cargo weighing above 350 kilos in Male’ City and suburban Hulhumale’ from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The restriction too, has been eased, to allow 24/7 transport of cargo within Male’ and Hulhumale’.
