The Foreign Ministry of Maldives has advised Maldivbians in Saudi Arabia to remain alert over the curfews announced in the country regarding the spread of Covid-19.
As a safety measure, Saudi Arabia has introduced a curfew from 19:00 to 07:00 in the morning for 21 days.
“Maldivians living or visiting Saudi Arabia during these days are advised to remain alert over these measures. The ministry advises clarifying information regarding the status of the country before traveling since these measures are subject to change.” Read a statement by the Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Ministry has previously requested Maldivians living abroad to register at the closest diplomatic mission of the Maldives in light of the global pandemic and Maldivians in Saudi Arabia are advised to register at the Maldivian Embassy in the country.
The Maldives has also implemented stringent measures against the spread of the Covid-19 in the country. Arrivals into the country other than tourists are subjected to a quarantine period of 14 days and the government has also halted tourist excursions in the country as well as the transfer of tourists between islands and resorts. Tourists are also currently restricted from guesthouses in local islands.
