Maldivian government, on Saturday, announced that one more person who had tested positive for COVID-19 had made a full recovery, increasing the total number of persons who have recovered from the virus to 3.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center this afternoon.
Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Moosa Murad, a senior doctor from IGMH, said the latest to make a recovery had been a person who tested positive for the virus from Kuredu Island Resort.
The person is currently at the Velidhoo isolation facility, and will continue to be monitored for 14 more days.
“We, today, established an additional person in an isolation facility who had previously tested positive, as negative,” said Dr. Murad.
He said the person in question had been moved out of Kuredu on March 7, and had exhibited only minor symptoms.
HPA conducted additional testing on the person on March 18, and again on March 20.
“As both samples tested negative, we have established the person is negative for this disease,” said Dr. Murad.
13 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, all of whom are foreign nationals who were either working or vacationing in resorts or safaris. Of the 13 people, five were from Kuredu Island Resort, two from Sandies Bathala, two from Kuramathi Island Resort, two from Anantara Dhigu, and two from Island Safari-1.
The other two who have made a full recovery are a 70-year-old Italian male who was moved to Dharumavantha Hospital after his condition had deteriorated, and his spouse.
10 people continued to receive treatment.
