Maagiri Hotel reopens after incubation following virus case

Maagiri Hotel in the capital city of Male’ has once again been reopened after a brief closure to disinfect its premises.

The hotel was opened after completing its incubation period. It closed on March 10 following a positive case of the Covid-19 virus that had stayed at the hotel. The hotel one of the most notable hotels in the capital, took the initiative to ensure the safety of its guests and employees.

The positive case of the virus at the hotel, an Italian tourist had traveled from Kuredu Island Resort where the first cluster of the virus in the country had been identified, had stayed for two days from March 1-2. The tourist later tested positive for the virus after departing from the country.

HPA had stated that 15 employees of the hotel were placed in quarantine as a precautionary measure, despite a lack of symptoms associated with the virus.

The four-star hotel with 52 rooms was opened in 2018.

The country has announced a 30-day period of public health emergency to effectively contain the virus which has had 13 confirmed cases so far.

All confirmed cases of the virus in the country are in stable condition.
