Local quarantined upon return from China

HPA has announced that a local who arrived back in the Maldives from China is being placed under quarantine as the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country rose to 8.

The person is being moved to quarantine as a precaution and will spend 14-days in quarantine.

Two Maldivians who arrived from Italy were also placed in quarantine.

Even if the subject does not exhibit symptoms of the disease, it is standard procedure to undergo a quarantine period of 14-days as a precaution if the subject returned from a country where the virus was spreading.

Two people have so far been released after completing the quarantine period.
