International hotel and resort chain, Planhotel Hospitality Group, on Wednesday, gifted the Maldivian Parliament with an ecological food recycler machine.
The food recycler was accepted on behalf of the Parliament by Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed, who promised to make good use of it to reduce waste at the legislative house.
“This machine gets rid of waste. The waste food that goes into this comes out as fertilizer. I believe this will be very useful,” said Nasheed.
The ceremony to gift the recycler was attended by senior officials from Planhotel, and was followed by a demonstration of how the recycler converts household waste into fertilizer.
The gift came on the same day the Parliament passed a resolution to declare a climate emergency in Maldives.
