Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Maldives, on Tuesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Judicial Academy of India designed to provide enhanced training and capacity building opportunities for local judges and judicial officers.

The MoU was signed by President of JSC Hisaan Hussain and Director of NJA Justice (Retired) Goda Raghuram at the NJA headquarters in Bhopal.

According to JSC, the agreement allows for 200 training and capacity building opportunities for local judges, and marks the first such agreement to be signed by the commission.

Hisaan, during the signing ceremony, thanked the Indian government for the opportunity.

The MoU comes after JSC, in November 2019, asked Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) to formulate policies to expand training and capacity building opportunities for sitting judges.
