Police investigate sexual assault on special needs woman in north Maldives

Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into the sexual assault on a special needs woman in an island located in northern Maldives.

According the police, the assault was reported to have taken place at approximately 7:30 pm on Monday.

The crime took place in an island which falls under the jurisdiction of the Upper North Police Division (H. A. Atoll, H. Dh. Atoll, and Sh. Atoll), and the victim is a 30-year-old woman who requires special assistance for a disability, said the police.

The crime is under investigation by the police. However, no arrests have been made, as of yet.
