Power has been restored to Velana International Airport (VIA) following an outage which lasted close to an hour on Tuesday.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which manages the VIA, announced on Twitter that power has now been fully restored to VIA.
According to MACL, it was able to manage critical areas using the backup system despite the power outage.
The company has apologized for inconvenience to its customers due to the power failure.
The unexpected power failure had hit at a time when the VIA had been bustling with activity as it processed incoming and outgoing holiday travelers.
According travelers at the airport at the time, the power failure had interrupted check-in services and resulted in the air conditioning systems malfunctioning and dripping water.
