Special activities have been decided to celebrate the 40th anniversary of MNDF Coastguard.
The activities will be held throughout the year and will include beach cleaning exercises, lagoon cleaning operations, and blood donation programs.
A special Du’a was also prayed at a ceremony held to commemorate the anniversary of one of the most important institutions of the country.
A special launch section was introduced as a separate unit of the then National Security Services (NSS) on January 1, 1980. The service was begun with just three 6.95-meter outboard engine speedboats.
One of the most important tasks of the force is to protect the coast and territorial waters of the Maldives, in addition to rescuing Maldivian citizens and their goods in situations of danger faced on the high seas.
MNDF coastguard works 24 hours non-stop each day no matter the weather, to ensure that the citizens of Maldives remain safe.
