Illegally mined sand discovered in Addu City

Police have discovered sandbags filled with illegally mined sand from coastal areas in Addu city.

The bags were discovered around 6:00 in the morning by patrolling officers in the city. 122 sandbags were discovered by the officers upon counting.

No one has so far been arrested in the matter, which is being investigated by Police.

It is illegal to remove sand from the coastal areas of the country.
