Speaker of Parliament, former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed and the rest of the delegates from the Maldivian Parliament who are on an official visit to neighboring India have called on the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting took place this Friday.
Nasheed issued a short statement via his official Twitter account in which he said that he and Modi discussed a number of regional and global issues of mutual interest during their meeting; including climate change, Paris Agreement targets, renewable energy, single-use plastics, coral reef protection and natural climate solutions.

Nasheed, during his visit to India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, and the Maldivian Parliament.
He also called on the Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday. According to India media reports, he is said to have told Naidu that the Maldives was keen on renegotiating the terms of its debt to China.
The Maldivian delegation, which includes Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla, Secretary-General Fathimath Niusha and Counsel-General Fathimath Filza, are scheduled to conclude their visit and return to Maldives this Friday.
