The Indian government has issued a grant of MVR 1.9 million for the refurbishment of Fiyavathi – the state-run children’s shelter located in suburban Hulhumale’.
Finance Ministry reports the grant will be used to upgrade the shelter’s security system, strengthen functionality of the building, set up two new common rooms, replace existing furniture and other needs.
The grant is part of the aid scheme for socio-economic projects agreed on by the Indian government during then-Indian External Minister Sushma Swaraj to Maldives in March.
