The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun an ethics investigation into Supreme Court Judge Abdul Ghani Mohamed.

The case stems from a 2012 complaint of corruption regarding the Judge when he was the senior judge of the High Court. “Sun” has obtained the documents of the case. The documents show that Judge Ghani withheld the file of an accused in a case for a long time, without taking any action on it.

The ACC statement read that the case came to light in relation to the newly passed laws regarding courts in the country. The laws obliged Judge Abdul Ghani to hand over the cases and documents to the newly appointed senior judge of the High Court.

The complainant also alleged that the accused in the case, who was a woman, was soon afterward hired as an employee of the High Court and that she and Judge Ghani had a close relationship.

Judge Ghani was appointed to the Supreme Court in July of 2018. He is currently faced with an investigation of the Judicial Service Commission regarding unconstitutional decisions of the Supreme Court as well.
