The Chief Justice of Maldives Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi has refused to receive the notice of summons sent by the Judicial Service Commission regarding the disciplinary case under review against the Chief Justice.
JSC issued a statement last night refuting claims by some media that unknown personnel were attempting to enter the residence of the Chief Justice and stated that an employee of the Commission had gone to the residence of the Chief Justice to issue the notice by the Commission.
The Commission also stated that the employee had presented the Chief Justice with his employee card before the Chief Justice refused to receive the notice.
“When asked who he was (by the Chief Justice), the employee stated his name and presented his employee card and informed the Chief Justice that he was there to issue a document of the Judicial Service Commission.” the statement by the JSC read. The Chief Justice then refused to receive the document of notice, entered his residence and closed the door behind him, according to the statement by JSC.
The Chief Justice has been a defiant figure in front of the JSC and has previously refused to receive the report of the disciplinary proceedings as well as the advisory statements by the Commission.
The Commission is currently reviewing three cases regarding the Chief Justice of the Maldives.
