The Parliament has announced its decision to allow lawmakers to meet with their constituents within its premises.

The decision was announced by the Parliament’s secretary-general Aminath Niusha at a press conference this Sunday.

Niusha said that meeting arrangements will be made by the Member Service Section upon request by lawmakers.

“All arrangements will be facilitated by the Member Service Section upon request by lawmakers,” said Niusha.

She said that the purpose of facilitating meeting arrangements was to bolster relations between lawmakers and their respective constituents.

Ruling MDP had instructed all lawmakers to establish an office which is accessible to constituents during the campaign leading up to the parliamentary elections earlier this year. However, only a few lawmakers have followed the instructions and opened offices.
