Additional member appointed to National Pay Commission

Finance Ministry has appointed an additional member to the National Pay Commission.

Finance Ministry announced the appointment of the new member, Aishath Fareedha, this Thursday.

National Pay Commission was established under the National Pay Policy Act, and is empowered with establishing a mandatory standard for salary and benefits of public servants.

It is led by Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer.

The new appointment brings the total number of commissioners to five.

National Pay Commission, in a statement in early September, announced that the new salary structure for public servants will come to effect in 2020. It is also working on establishing standards for allowances of public servants in an effort to bridge the current disparity in allowances to public servants.
